Suspiria was an extremely uncomfortable and strange movie.
The bright colors, acting, storytelling, pre-conceived soundtrack, and bright
red fake blood and real maggots all seemed to clash together to form a movie
that was creepier than the story it was telling. Although it was strange, I
find the motivation for the movie to be fascinating. Apparently the inspiration
for the script came from a story that the scriptwriter’s grandmother told her
when she was young. Apparently her grandmother had been studying acting only to
discover that the teachers were also practicing black magic. Theirs is
something about old European black magic being practiced in secret at an acting
school that just sounds fantastic.
